July 8, 2008 from USATF press release (Bydgoszcz, Poland) American sprinters and jumpers fared very well in the morning session of the opening day at the 12th edition of the World Junior Championships. Both entrants in the 100 and 400 for the men and women moved on to the next round while a pair of men's long jumpers qualified for the final.

HasayOlympicTrials08Q.jpg Womens 1500 Meter Run: U.S. leader Shannon Rowbury won the first heat easily in 4:11.75 to post the fastest time of the day, but it was the fifth-place finisher in the second heat who was the focus of the sell-out crowd. Multi-time USATF youth, Junior Olympic and Junior champion Jordan Hasay, a 16-year-old high school junior from California, broke the national high school record with her fifth-place time of 4:14.50. Lindsey Gallo won the heat in 4:12.54.

Robin Reynolds (Miami Northwest Express Track Club) collected her third and fourth individual titles at the 2008 USA Youth Track & Field Championships, after winning the youth girls 100 and 400 meters on the final day of competition. Reynolds darted down the 100m straightaway in a wind aided 11.98 seconds to claim her third win of the championships.

LSU, Florida State Win NCAA Team Titles

LSU won the women's team crown for the first time since 2003 and Florida State repeated as men's champions at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships over the weekend at Drake University in Des Moines, IA. The women's championship all came down to the final event between LSU and Arizona State.

June 14-2007 From USATF press release. Arizona State senior, Jacquelyn Johnson, has been named the nation's top female collegiate track and field athlete for 2008, for which she will receive the Honda Sports Award, given to the top women athletes in each of the 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports.

By John Nepolitan / June 9, 2008. At the Great Southwest Invitational the high jump bar was risen to 6’ and for the first time in high school history three girls would clear the bar. The next height would be 6’ 1-1/4” – the “A” qualifier for the U.S. Olympic Trials. All three would miss, but Shanay Briscoe (Duncanville, TX) would get the win on misses.
