(USATF)INDIANAPOLIS -- Emma Coburn has been named USATF’s Athlete of the Week after setting the American record in the women’s 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Glasgow Diamond League meet on Saturday, July 12.
(IAAF) -The best young athletes from nearly 200 countries will soon be on their way to Eugene for the 2014 IAAF World Junior Championships, which begin in exactly one week’s time on 22 July.
GLASGOW -- Olympian Emma Coburn (Crested Butte, Colorado) etched her name in the record books Saturday, breaking the American record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Diamond League meeting in Glasgow. Coburn crossed in 9:11.42 to set a new personal best and take the AR.
Team USA will send 89 athletes to the 2014 IAAF World Junior Championships, which will be held on home soil in Eugene between 22-27 July.
The US roster for Oregon 2014 includes eight individual medallists from the 2013 IAAF World Youth Championships, four NCAA (American collegiate) champions and seventeen athletes with previous World Junior Championships experience.
