TV and Live Online Coverage of 2009 Marathon starts Saturday, May 30 at 9 a.m. ET
LOS ANGELES – May 5, 2009 – Universal Sports today announced a three-year agreement to present the 2009, 2010 and 2011 Stockholm Marathons, continuing to demonstrate Universal Sports’ commitment to bringing world-class marathons to the United States. The 31st Stockholm Marathon will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2009. The multi-year deal was made with Anders Olsson, Managing Director of Stockholm Marathon and founder of the race.

ABOUT THE EVENT: Stockholm, ranked as the No. 1 marathon destination in the world by The Ultimate Guide to International Marathons, by Dennis Craythorn and Rich Hanna, will host more than 18,500 runners, a record number for this event. This scenic route takes runners past many landmarks in Stockholm, including waterfalls, the Royal Palace, City Hall, Royal Opera House and the Houses of Parliament. The race concludes in the historic stadium created for the 1912 Olympic Games.
2008 MARATHON WINNERS: Willy Korir of Kenya was the winner of the men’s division last year, his first victory in an international marathon. Isabellah Andersson of Sweden won on the women’s side in her first serious attempt at a long distance race.
