December 1, 2008 from Tracy Lott / Running USA wire (ATLANTA GA) Michael Green , 32, of Troy, AL, was the first runner to cross the finish line of 2008's The Weather Channel Atlanta Half Marathon with an official gun time of 1:07:23 seconds on Thursday. Green and runner-up Andrew Fuller of Rome GA battled through the 11th mile of the race before Green pulled ahead to victory.

He has made the U.S. Olympic team and represented the USA at the World Championships, but before Monday Galen Rupp (Univ of Oregon) had yet to win an individual NCAA title. Three times Rupp had crossed the line in 2nd place, but at this weeks NCAA Cross Country Championships Rupp stormed to victory and led his Duck team to a repeat team crown.
